Go to offender.tdcj.texas.gov/OffenderSearch/ and enter the person’s full legal name. Using a nickname will not return accurate results. If you already have their TDCJ number, enter that instead for a direct match. The search is free, requires no account, and returns results within seconds for anyone in active TDCJ custody.

What the Search Result Shows

A successful result returns a profile with the person’s full legal name, TDCJ number, current unit assignment, projected release date, and offense information. The TDCJ number is the most important item on the page. Write it down and keep it somewhere accessible. You need it for every JPay deposit, Securus setup, visitor application, and piece of outgoing mail.

The unit field confirms they are currently assigned to the Lane Murray Unit in Gatesville. If they were recently transferred, this field will reflect the new unit.

If Multiple Results Appear

Common surnames can return several records. Look at the current unit column first to find the one assigned to Lane Murray. If you are still unsure, the projected release date and offense type can help you match the right record.
