Create a free account at jpay.com or download the JPay app. Add the person using their TDCJ number, select Texas Department of Criminal Justice as the facility system, enter an amount, and pay with a debit or credit card. Online and app deposits typically post to the account within a few hours. A service fee applies, and JPay shows the fee before you confirm the transaction.
If you do not have a JPay account yet, creating one takes a few minutes. You will need the person’s full legal name and TDCJ number. Find the TDCJ number using the TDCJ offender search if you do not have it.
Other Ways to Send Money
By phone: Call JPay at 800-574-5729. Have the TDCJ number and your payment card ready before you call. Phone deposits go through the same system and carry the same service fees.
Cash at MoneyGram: Pay cash at a MoneyGram counter at Walmart, CVS, Kroger, or other locations. Select JPay as the recipient and enter the receive code for Texas DOC. The cashier can help if you are not sure which code to use. Cash deposits may take one to two business days to post.
