Can I call into Green River to reach an inmate?
No. Calls are outbound only, so the person inside has to call you. To receive their calls, set up a Securus account at securustech.net, add your phone number, and keep money on the account.
Phone CallsCalls are outbound only, so set up Securus and they call you.
Phone calls at Green River run through Securus, the company that handles phones for all Kentucky state prisons. Calls are outbound only, which means the person inside calls you. You cannot call into the prison. To receive calls, set up a Securus account, add your phone number, and put money on it.
A prison is not like a regular phone line. You cannot dial the facility and reach your loved one. Instead, the person uses prison phones or a Securus tablet to call approved numbers. Your job is to make sure your number is set up and funded so their call goes through.
Go to securustech.net and create a free account, or call Securus for help by phone. Use your real name and the phone number you want them to call. This is the number the person will dial from inside.
Calls cost money per minute. You can prepay through your Securus account, which is called AdvanceConnect, so you always have a balance ready. The person can also pay for calls from their own account, which you fund through JPay deposits.
If there is no money on either side, the call will not connect. Keeping a small balance is the easiest way to avoid missed calls.
Once your number is set up and funded, the person can call you during the hours phones are available at Green River. Calls are outbound only and have time limits set by the facility. Every call is monitored and recorded.
Securus also provides tablets that people can use to send messages and access media. This is separate from JPay, which Kentucky uses for money. If your loved one has a tablet, you may be able to exchange messages through Securus in addition to phone calls.
If a call will not connect, check that your number is added to your Securus account and that there is money on the account. Some phone carriers block prison calls by default, so you may need to contact Securus to clear your number. You can also call Green River at (270) 754-5415 with questions about phone access.
