Phone calls at Little Sandy Correctional Complex run through Securus Technologies, the phone provider for Kentucky state prisons. Calls are outbound only: the inmate has to call you, you cannot call in. To receive calls, set up a Securus account and add funds. Video visits are also available through Securus. They must be booked at least 48 hours in advance and don’t count against the monthly in-person visit limit.

How Phone Calls Work at Little Sandy

Little Sandy uses Securus Technologies for all inmate phone services. Here is how it works:

You cannot call the inmate. All calls are outbound from inside the facility.
The inmate calls you collect from a phone inside their housing unit.
You are responsible for the cost of the call. Calls are billed to the Securus account connected to your phone number.
All calls are monitored and recorded by KDOC staff.

Setting Up Your Securus Account

Before you can receive or pay for calls, set up a Securus account:

Go to securustech.net and click “Sign Up” (or download the Securus app).
Create an account with your name and a valid phone number or email.
Add your phone number(s) so the system knows which lines to connect calls to.
Add funds to your account so incoming collect calls can be billed.

Once you have money in your Securus account, calls from Little Sandy will connect automatically when the inmate calls your number.

Call Rates

The per-minute rate for calls from Little Sandy is set by Securus and may change. Current rates are displayed when you create or fund your Securus account. For the most accurate current rate, check securustech.net or call Securus customer support.

Video Visitation

Video visits at Little Sandy are available through Securus and are a great option for families who can’t make the drive to Sandy Hook or want to stay in touch between in-person visits.

How to schedule a video visit:

Log in to your Securus account at securustech.net.
Click “Schedule Session” and select Little Sandy Correctional Complex.
Choose an available time slot.
Book at least 48 hours in advance. Last-minute bookings are not accepted.
Video sessions are first-come, first-served based on kiosk availability.

Requirements:

You must be 18 or older to schedule a video visit.
A valid driver’s license or official government photo ID is required when setting up your Securus account.
Minors may participate in a video visit under the supervision of the adult who scheduled it.

Recording and monitoring:

All video visits are recorded and monitored except attorney-client visits.
Attorney video visits require Securus to verify the attorney’s credentials; these sessions are not recorded.

Does it count against in-person visits? No. Video visits through Securus do not count against the inmate’s 4 in-person visit allowance per month. You can use video visits freely without affecting your ability to visit in person.

What You Cannot Do

You cannot call the facility and be transferred to the inmate.
Three-way calls are not permitted.
Calls discussing illegal activity are subject to investigation.
