Count time: No one enters or exits the facility during count, which runs approximately 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM. If you arrive during this window, you will wait until count clears before being admitted.

Monthly Visit Limit

Each inmate at Little Sandy is allowed 4 in-person visits per calendar month (a week is counted Sunday through Saturday). Video visits through Securus do not count toward this limit: you can schedule a video visit in any week without affecting your in-person allowance.

How to Get on the Approved Visitor List

You must be on the approved list before your first visit. Here is how the process works:

  1. Contact the inmate’s unit secretary at Little Sandy (contact info below) or email [email protected] to request a visitor form.
  2. Complete the visitor information form per Kentucky DOC policy CPP 16-1.
  3. Return the completed form to the inmate’s unit secretary.
  4. The unit reviews and processes your request.
  5. You receive notification once approved.

ID Requirements

All adult visitors must present a valid, government-issued photo ID. Acceptable forms include a driver’s license, state ID card, military ID, or passport. Children require two forms of identification.

Visitor Dress Code

Little Sandy enforces a strict dress code. Staff have full discretion to deny entry if clothing does not comply. Visitors in violation may change into compliant clothing or will be turned away.

Prohibited clothing items:

  • Shorts, dresses, or skirts more than 2 inches above the knee
  • Sleeveless shirts, tank tops, halter tops, or tube tops
  • See-through, excessively tight, or provocative clothing
  • Spandex, leggings, or yoga pants worn as the outermost garment (only permitted under a compliant skirt, dress, or pants)
  • Clothing with obscene language, gang insignia, or offensive imagery
  • Head coverings of any type (religious head coverings are permitted but subject to search)
  • Appropriate undergarments are required and must not be visible

When in doubt, wear something conservative: slacks, a modest top, and closed-toed shoes.

What You Can Bring In

Visitors are limited in what they may bring into the visiting room:

  • Up to $40 per inmate visited, in $1 bills and silver coins only. No $5, $10, or $20 bills.
  • A clear plastic bag or clear coin purse to hold the money
  • Vehicle keys (one ignition key, one door key, and a locker key; no keychains)
  • One watch, one ring, and one pair of earrings
  • Essential infant items: one plastic bottle and three diapers (no toys, no glass baby food jars)

Everything else must be left in your vehicle or in a facility locker. Items left inside the institution may be disposed of.

Physical Contact Rules

Physical contact is permitted at the start and end of each visit. One brief kiss and a hug are allowed at those points. Open-mouth kissing is not permitted. No holding hands during the visit. Sexual contact is strictly prohibited. There are no conjugal visits.

Children Rules

Children under 18 must be on the approved visitor list. They must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or another family member with written parental or guardian consent. If accompanied by a non-parent or non-guardian, the written consent must be signed and notarized.

Infants may be held by the inmate. All other children must remain seated or held by the visiting adult. Children must be under parental supervision at all times.

Video Visitation

Little Sandy offers video visits through Securus Technologies. Video visits must be booked at least 48 hours in advance. To schedule:

  1. Create a Securus account at securustech.net (click “Sign Up”)
  2. Log in and select “Schedule Session” for Little Sandy Correctional Complex
  3. Choose an available time slot

All video visits except attorney visits are recorded and monitored. Attorney video visits are not recorded; staff verify credentials before the session.

Video visits do not count against the 4 in-person monthly visit limit.

Tobacco-Free Facility

Little Sandy is a tobacco-free institution. Visitors may not bring any tobacco products onto the grounds. All inmates and staff are also prohibited from using tobacco on the property.
