Visiting Schedule: How It Rotates
Roederer runs a monthly rotating weekend schedule. Which day your loved one can have visitors depends on two things: the last digit of their DOC number, and whether the current month is odd-numbered (January, March, May, July, September, November) or even-numbered (February, April, June, August, October, December).
Here is how the rotation works:
In odd-numbered months, inmates with an odd DOC number (ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9) visit on Saturday, and inmates with an even DOC number (ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8) visit on Sunday.
In even-numbered months, it flips: odd DOC numbers visit on Sunday, and even DOC numbers visit on Saturday.
If you’re not sure which day applies to your loved one right now, call the visitation office at (502) 222-0173 or ask the inmate to confirm their current visiting day.
Getting Approved to Visit
You must be on the inmate’s approved visitor list before you can visit. Here is how the approval process works.
The inmate submits a visitor application listing your name, relationship, and contact information. The facility reviews the list. Anyone with a criminal record must write directly to the Warden to request approval.
If the inmate is in the Assessment Center, wait until they have been at Roederer for at least 45 days before submitting a visitor application. Even after approval, the first visit cannot happen until day 60.
Processing takes time, so start the application process as soon as your loved one arrives at RCC.
What to Bring
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. Acceptable forms include a driver’s license, state ID, or passport. Expired IDs will be turned away.
Visitors are allowed to bring a small amount of cash for vending machines, typically in a clear bag or change purse. Check with the facility for the current policy before your visit.
No cell phones, cameras, or personal items beyond what is specifically allowed by the facility.
Assessment Center vs. Permanent Population
Roederer houses two populations: permanent inmates assigned to RCC, and Assessment Center inmates being classified before transfer to another KDOC facility.
Permanent inmates are allowed two visits per month, up to two hours each.
Assessment Center inmates are also allowed two visits per month, but each visit is limited to one hour. Assessment Center inmates cannot have visitors at all during their first 60 days. Applications can be submitted starting at day 45.
If you’re not sure which population your loved one is in, call the facility at (502) 222-0170.
Video Visits
Video visits are available through Securus Technologies. Create an account at securustech.net, select Roederer Correctional Complex, and schedule a session. Video visits do not require you to travel to the facility.
