Pine Prairie ICE Processing Center is operated by GEO Group on behalf of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Because it is an ICE facility, detainees held here do not appear in the Louisiana Department of Public Safety offender search or on VINELink’s Louisiana results. The correct tool is the ICE detainee locator at ice.gov/detainee-locator. You can search by full name and country of birth or by alien number (A-number). If you cannot find the person after 48 hours, call the facility directly at (337) 599-2198.
Go to ice.gov/detainee-locator and enter the person’s information. You can search two ways:
Option 1: By name and country of birth Enter the person’s first name, last name, and country of birth. This works well if you do not have an alien number.
Option 2: By alien number (A-number) If you have the person’s alien registration number, enter it directly. A-numbers appear on immigration court documents and removal orders. This is the fastest and most reliable search method.
The locator will return the detainee’s current facility, detention status, and case information if they are in ICE custody.
The Louisiana Department of Public Safety offender search and VINELink’s Louisiana results only include people in Louisiana state criminal custody. ICE detainees are held under federal civil immigration authority, not state criminal law. They do not appear in state systems. If you searched the state database and got no results, that does not mean the person was released. Use the ICE locator instead.
Recent arrival or transfer: Detainee records can take 24 to 48 hours to update in the system after a new booking or a transfer between facilities.
Already released or deported: Once a person is released from ICE custody or removed from the country, they may no longer appear in the locator.
Spelling or name mismatch: ICE uses the name exactly as it appears on official immigration records. Try alternate spellings or the full legal name if a common name returns no results.
Held under a different name: Some detainees may be listed under a different legal name than the one you know. If you have an A-number, use that instead of the name.
Transferred to a different facility: The ICE locator shows the current facility. If the person was recently transferred, the locator will show the new location once updated.
Always confirm the person is still at Pine Prairie before making a trip or sending money. ICE detainees can be transferred between facilities with little notice. Check the ICE locator close to your planned visit date, then call (337) 599-2198 to confirm.
Call the facility at (337) 599-2198 and ask the Records Clerk to help you confirm custody. Have the person’s full legal name, date of birth, and alien number ready if you have it.
If you think the person may be in federal criminal custody (BOP) and not ICE custody, search at bop.gov/inmateloc instead.
