Phone Calls and Email at FCI Milan

The BOP's TRULINCS/TRUFONE phone system and CorrLinks email, both outgoing-only from the person in custody.

Overview

FCI Milan uses the same communication systems as every other BOP facility: TRULINCS/TRUFONE for phone calls and CorrLinks for email. Both only work one way. The person in custody places the call or sends the message; you cannot call or email them directly. They have to add you to their approved contact list first.

Quick Facts

  • Phone calls go through TRULINCS/TRUFONE. The standard allotment is 300 minutes a month, BOP-wide.
  • Email goes through CorrLinks at corrlinks.com. Create a free account once the person adds you as a contact.
  • Both systems are outgoing-only. The person in custody initiates contact, not you.
  • All calls and messages are monitored and may be recorded.

How Phone Calls Work

FCI Milan uses TRULINCS/TRUFONE, the Bureau of Prisons’ phone system used at every BOP-operated facility. The person in custody places outgoing calls to numbers on their approved contact list. You cannot call into the facility and reach them directly.

The standard minute allotment is 300 minutes a month, BOP-wide. Calls are monitored and may be recorded.

Getting on the Approved Contact List

Before the person can call or email you, they have to add your name and number to their approved list through their counselor. There’s nothing for you to fill out on your end until they’ve added you. Once approved, you’ll be able to set up a CorrLinks account for email.

CorrLinks is the BOP’s official email system. Once the person adds you as a contact, you’ll get an invitation email. Create a free account at corrlinks.com to accept it. Like phone calls, messaging only goes one direction at a time, initiated from inside the facility, and every message is reviewed before it’s released.

If You Can’t Reach Someone by Phone

If there’s an emergency and you need to reach the facility directly, call FCI Milan at (734) 439-1511. Staff can pass along urgent messages, but routine contact should go through TRULINCS and CorrLinks.
