How to Visit FCI Milan

Visiting runs Fridays, weekends, and holidays. Each person gets 12 visiting points a month.

Overview

FCI Milan does not allow visits every day. General population visiting is limited to Fridays and weekends, and the facility uses a points system to track how often each person can be visited. You also need to be on the approved visitor list before your first trip, which requires a background check.

Visiting Hours

DayHours
Friday (general population)11:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Saturday, Sunday, holidays8:15 AM to 3:00 PM

No one is processed in after 2:00 PM, even if the visiting period technically runs later. Plan to arrive well before that cutoff.

Getting on the Approved Visitor List

Before your first visit, you need to be on the person’s approved visitor list. They submit your name to their counselor, and the BOP runs an NCIC background check before approving you. This can take time, so don’t wait until the week of a planned visit to start the process.

How Visiting Points Work

FCI Milan limits visits using a points system instead of a simple visit count:

  • Each person gets 12 visiting points per calendar month.
  • A single visit costs 2 points.
  • That works out to about 6 visits a month, with a limit of one visit per day.

What to Bring

  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Nothing else beyond what the facility specifically allows; leave phones, bags, and valuables in your car

Visitor Limits

A visit can include up to 5 visitors total, but no more than 3 adults can be present in the visiting room at the same time. Children count toward the total but not toward the adult limit.

Before You Head Out

Visiting schedules can change for lockdowns or operational needs. Call the facility at (734) 439-1511 before a long trip to confirm visiting is on for that day.
