You can visit from home, a library, or any place with a stable internet connection. Visits are available every day of the week, including holidays, across three daily windows. Account registration takes 48 to 72 hours because Securus verifies your government-issued photo ID.

Step 2. Enter Your Information

Fill in your name, email address, and a password. You will also need to enter a phone number for account verification.

Step 3. Upload Your Government-Issued Photo ID

Securus requires a valid government-issued photo ID to verify your identity. Acceptable IDs include:

  • Driver’s license or state-issued ID
  • U.S. Passport or Passport Card
  • U.S. Military ID

Upload a clear photo of your ID during registration. The image must be readable and not blurry.

Step 4. Wait for Approval

Approval takes 48 to 72 hours. Securus reviews your ID before activating your account. Do not wait until you want to visit to sign up. Register as soon as you know the person is at Craven County.

Step 5. Schedule a Visit

Once your account is active, log in and schedule a visit at least 24 hours in advance. Choose the facility (Craven County Detention Center) and select an available time slot. The person inside must also be available and may need to accept or be informed of the visit depending on how scheduling works at the facility. Call (252) 636-6619 if you have trouble scheduling.

What You Need for a Video Visit

  • A device with a working camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop with webcam)
  • A stable internet connection
  • Your Securus account credentials
  • A quiet, private space

A weak internet connection can drop the call mid-visit. If you are using a phone, connect to Wi-Fi rather than relying on cellular data when possible.

Who Can Set Up a Visit

Any adult with a verified Securus account can schedule and attend a video visit. You do not need to be a family member. Friends, clergy, and others with an approved account can connect.

Children and Video Visits

Children can participate in video visits since they take place at home. There is no in-person security screening for video visits. If a child is part of the visit, they should be present with you at your location.
