Online: Go to IWebVisit.com and create an account. Fill in your name, contact information, and the name of the person you want to visit at Guilford County Detention Center.

In person: You can also register at either Guilford County detention facility location.

After you complete registration, you must wait 24 hours before you can schedule your first visit. Plan ahead, especially if you’re visiting for the first time.

How to Schedule a Visit

All visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Same-day requests are not accepted.

In-person visits: Schedule through IWebVisit.com or at the facility. You can visit up to 2 times per week, but the visits must be at non-consecutive session times.

Remote video visits: Schedule through the IWebVisit.com platform on your smart device. You can do up to 2 remote visits per day, 20 minutes each.

In-Person Visit: What to Expect

In-person visits at Guilford County Detention Center are monitor-based. You and the person you’re visiting sit on opposite sides of a video monitor. You do not share the same physical space. The visit is 20 minutes.

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. You will need it to check in at the facility. Acceptable IDs include:

  • State driver’s license or ID card
  • U.S. passport or passport card
  • U.S. military ID
  • Tribal ID

Do not bring bags, purses, or large personal items into the visitation area. Leave them in your vehicle.

Remote Video Visits from Home

Remote visits use the IWebVisit.com platform. You need:

  • A registered IWebVisit.com account
  • A personal smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone
  • The visit scheduled at least 24 hours in advance
  • A fee payment through IWebVisit.com

Remote visits run 20 minutes each. You can schedule up to 2 per day. These visits connect through the jail’s video system, so the person must be available and not in a restricted status. All remote visits are monitored and recorded.

Getting to the Facility

Guilford County Detention Center is at 201 S. Edgeworth St. in downtown Greensboro, NC 27401.

Greensboro’s GTA bus system serves downtown Greensboro. Call (336) 335-4636 or visit ridegta.com for route information. Street parking and paid parking decks are available near the facility. Plan to arrive with time to find parking and sign up before the session cutoff.
