Securus offers three ways to pay for calls:
| Plan | How It Works |
|---|---|
| Securus Debit | You prepay into your Securus account. Calls draw from that balance. |
| Advance Connect | You set up a prepaid account tied to a specific phone number. Works like a calling card. |
| Direct Bill | Charges go directly to your phone bill. Not available for all carriers. |

Once your number is registered and your account has funds, the person can call you from the jail phone. They dial your number and the Securus system connects the call after a brief recorded announcement. The announcement states that the call is from a correctional facility and is being monitored.
Per-minute rates vary based on the billing plan and call type. Rates are shown in your Securus account before you add funds. Call length may be limited by the facility. If you’re unsure how long calls can be, call the facility at (704) 878-3131 to ask.
All calls through Securus are recorded and monitored by jail staff. This is standard for county jails and is disclosed at the start of every call. Attorney calls may be handled differently.
