How to Search the Moore County Inmate Roster

Go to webapps.moorecountync.gov/dcn/ in any browser. You can search by name (first name, last name, or both) or by charge type. The roster pulls from the current detention center population.

Enter the person’s name and hit search. The results list shows everyone in custody whose name matches. Click on a name to see the full record.

What the Search Results Show

The Moore County roster is more detailed than most county jail lookups. Each record includes:

• Name and photo (mugshot)
• Booking date
• Days in custody (calculated from booking date)
• Current charges with charge codes
• Bond information
• Inmate ID number

The days-in-custody figure is useful when you’re not sure when someone was booked. You can also search by charge type if you know what they’re held on but aren’t sure of the spelling of their name.

Write Down the Inmate ID Number

Once you find the person, write down their inmate ID number. You will need it every time you:

• Send money through JailATM
• Mail a letter or package
• Schedule a remote video visit through NCIC
• Contact the facility about the person

Deposits or mail sent without the correct ID number can be delayed or returned.

Searching by Charge Type

The Moore County roster lets you filter results by charge category, not just by name. This can help if:

• You know what the person was charged with but aren’t sure which name spelling the system uses
• You’re trying to understand what someone is held on before you call the jail

If You Can’t Find the Person

Try these steps before calling:

1. Wait a day. Newly booked individuals may take up to 24 hours to appear in the roster.
2. Try different spelling. Use just a last name, or a first name alone, to catch spelling variations.
3. Check if they transferred. People sentenced to state time may transfer to the NC Department of Adult Correction. Search the NCDAC offender search for state-sentenced individuals.

If the person was recently released, they may no longer appear in the roster even though you expect them to still be there.

What “Days in Custody” Means

The roster shows how many days each person has been in custody since their booking date. This number reflects continuous custody at Moore County. It resets if someone is released and rebooked.

Note that days in custody at Moore County is not the same as total time served toward a sentence. For sentenced individuals, confirm time-served credit directly with the facility or the person’s attorney.

Confirming Before You Send Money or Visit

Always confirm the person is still at Moore County before sending money or scheduling a video visit. If they transferred, your deposit may need to be redirected or refunded. A quick roster check before each deposit saves that hassle.

If you have questions about bond payment, contact a licensed bail bondsman or the Moore County clerk of court. The jail staff cannot accept bond payments directly: bond is handled through the court system or a bondsman.
