Why You Cannot Call In
You cannot dial Pasquotank CI and ask to be connected to someone in custody. The facility does not route incoming calls to inmates. The person inside has to call you. Your job is to make sure your number is set up and your account is funded before they try to call.
Step 1. Create a ConnectNetwork Account
Go to ConnectNetwork.com and create a free account. Use your real name and the phone number you want the person to call. The number you register is the number calls come to.
If you have a ConnectNetwork account from another facility, you can add your number to work for Pasquotank CI calls as well. The system is the same across NC DAC facilities.
Step 2. Add Your Phone Number
Once your account is set up, add the phone number you want to receive calls on. ConnectNetwork may send a verification code to confirm the number is real and active.
Make sure the number you add is one you actually answer. If the person calls and the call cannot connect, it counts against their phone access time.
Step 3. Fund Your Account or Theirs
There are two ways to pay for calls:
Prepaid account (your account): Add money to your ConnectNetwork account. When the person calls, the cost comes out of your balance.
Debit calling (their account): If the person’s trust account has money, calls can be deducted from their end. Fund their account through ConnectNetwork or Western Union deposits.
The call costs $0.10 per minute. A 15-minute call costs $1.50 before taxes and fees.
Step 4. Answer the Call
When the person calls from Pasquotank CI, your phone will ring with a recorded message identifying it as a call from a correctional facility. You will be prompted to accept the call. If you do not press the right button or you miss the call, the call is disconnected and they have to try again during their next available phone time.
Call Limits
Each call is capped at 15 minutes. When time runs out, the call ends automatically. The person has to place a new call if they want to continue the conversation, subject to availability of phones and phone access time at the facility.
NC DAC may also limit the number of calls per day or per week. Call (252) 331-4881 to ask about the current phone access schedule at Pasquotank CI.
What Numbers Can Be Called
The person can only call numbers that have been approved. Phone numbers go through an approval process similar to the visitor list. If they have not added your number to their approved call list, their call cannot go through to you even if your ConnectNetwork account is set up correctly.
If you are not receiving calls and your account is funded, the most likely reason is that your number has not been approved on their end. Have them ask facility staff to add your number.
Monitoring and Recording
All calls at Pasquotank CI are monitored and recorded. This is standard for NC DAC facilities. Do not discuss anything you would not want facility staff or law enforcement to hear. Attorney-client calls are handled through a separate process with different rules. Call (252) 331-4881 to ask how attorney calls are arranged.
Video Visits
ViaPath/GTL also offers video visits through the Getting Out Visits app. Sign up at sso.gtlconnect.com. Video visits let you see each other face to face from your phone or computer. You still need to be on the approved visitor list to use video visits. Call (252) 331-4881 or email [email protected] to confirm whether video visits are available at Pasquotank CI and what the scheduling process is.
If Calls Are Not Connecting
Work through this list before calling support:
- Confirm your phone number is in your ConnectNetwork account and is verified.
- Confirm there is a balance in your account (or the person’s trust account).
- Ask the person if your number is on their approved call list at the facility.
- Check with your cell carrier. Some carriers block calls from correctional facilities by default. Ask them to whitelist calls from ViaPath/GTL.
- Call ConnectNetwork support at 877-650-4249 with your account details.
- Call Pasquotank CI at (252) 331-4881 if you still cannot resolve the issue.
International Calls
If you live outside the United States, call ConnectNetwork support at 877-650-4249 to ask whether international calls are available for Pasquotank CI and what rates apply. International calling policies vary and may need to be enabled separately.
