There are two Steuben County Jails. This one is in Bath, New York, at 7007 Rumsey Street, run by the Steuben County Sheriff. The other is in Angola, Indiana, run by that county’s Sheriff. Search results mix them up, so check for NY or Bath before you trust a result.

Arraignment Happens at the Jail

Steuben runs a Centralized Arraignment Court at the jail, with two sessions a day handled by a rotation of local and city court judges. Someone arrested in the county is often arraigned in the building, which is when bail is set.

The Building and Who Is Held

The jail is part of Steuben’s Public Safety Building and can hold 262 people. It has seven housing units built for direct supervision: six for men and one for women. One unit is a dormitory for up to 48 medium-security men, and two units opened in December 2007 with 49 beds each.
