Q
What address do I use to write to someone at Upstate?
P.O. Box 2000, Malone, NY 12953, with their full name and DIN on the envelope and your return address in the top left corner. Watch the box number, because Franklin Correctional Facility is P.O. Box 10 on the same road in the same town.

Q
Is there a free bus to Upstate Correctional Facility?
Yes. Upstate is one of 18 New York prisons served by a free roundtrip visitor bus run in partnership with the state. It is the main reason downstate families can visit here without a car, and it is the clearest difference between Upstate and the prison 250 yards up the road.

Q
What are the visiting hours?
Weekends and holidays, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with the latest arrival at 1:45 PM. That arrival cutoff is a quarter of an hour earlier than the one at Franklin on the same road, which catches families who have visited both.

Q
How often can I visit?
General population allows two visits per day. Anyone in special housing is limited to two visits per week, counted Sunday through Saturday.

Q
How much do phone calls cost?
Nothing. New York made every call from a state prison free to families on August 1, 2025. Three calls of up to fifteen minutes are credited each Saturday, calls after those run to thirty minutes, and the window is 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM across fifteen approved numbers.
