Visiting Mesquite Police Jail

Daily 2–4 PM only. Photo ID required. No personal items.

Overview

Mesquite Police Jail has one visiting window per day — 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, seven days a week. There’s no scheduling, no approval process, and no contact visitation. Show up with valid photo ID and you can visit. Show up without it, or outside that window, and you won’t get in.

Quick Facts

  • Visiting hours: every day, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM only.
  • Valid government-issued photo ID required — driver's license or state ID.
  • No personal items, cash, or goods can be brought in for the inmate.
  • Prescription medication accepted only if properly labeled in original bottle with inmate's name.
  • Prisoner property release requires inmate's written authorization plus your valid ID.

Visiting Hours

Every day from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. That’s the only window, confirmed directly from the City of Mesquite’s official jail FAQ. There are no weekend-only visits, no scheduled appointments, and no extended hours for special circumstances.

Since most stays at Mesquite Police Jail are under 48 hours, the visiting window may pass before bond gets sorted out. If bail is a possibility, it’s worth checking the [bail and bond process](/facility-guides/tx/mesquite-police-jail-tx/bail-and-bond/) before making the trip.

What to Bring

Bring your government-issued photo ID — a Texas driver’s license, state ID, or passport. The ID must be valid (not expired). Per the official FAQ, identification is required to visit a prisoner.

That’s it. Everything else stays in your car.

What You Cannot Bring

The City of Mesquite’s official FAQ states clearly: personal items of convenience and money may not be contributed to the prisoner’s property. This means no cash, no food, no clothing, no toiletries, and no packages of any kind.

The one exception is prescription medication, which is accepted if it’s:

  • In the original prescription bottle
  • Properly labeled with the inmate’s name listed as the person taking it

Picking Up Prisoner Property

If you need to retrieve property belonging to someone in custody, the inmate must first provide written permission authorizing the release. You’ll also need to bring valid photo ID. Property will not be released without both. For property pickup, contact the front desk at (972) 216-6261.
