How Phone Calls Work at EKCC

Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex uses Securus Technologies for all inmate phone services.

The inmate calls you. You cannot call the inmate.

All calls are placed outbound from phones inside the facility. When the inmate calls you, the call is billed collect and you are responsible for paying for it. Calls connect through your Securus account. All calls are monitored and recorded by KDOC staff.

Setting Up Your Securus Account

Before you can receive or pay for calls, set up a Securus account:

1. Go to securustech.net and click “Sign Up” (or download the Securus app).
2. Create an account with your name and a valid phone number or email.
3. Add your phone number(s) so the system knows which lines to connect calls to.
4. Add funds to your account so incoming calls can be billed.

Once your account is funded and your number is registered, calls from Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex will connect automatically.

Call Rates

The per-minute rate for calls from EKCC is set by Securus and may change. Current rates are displayed when you create or fund your Securus account. For the most accurate rate, check securustech.net or call Securus customer support.

Video Visitation

Video visits at EKCC are available through Securus and are a great option for families who cannot make the drive to West Liberty or want to stay in touch between in-person sessions.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Duration: 25 minutes per session Monthly limit: Up to 3 video visits per month for General Population inmates

How to schedule:

1. Log in to your Securus account at securustech.net.
2. Click “Schedule Session” and select Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex.
3. Choose an available time slot.
4. Book at least 48 hours in advance. Last-minute bookings are not accepted.
5. Your information must match what KDOC has on file in KOMS (Kentucky Offender Management System). Mismatches can result in a denied session.

You can schedule up to 30 days in advance.

Does video count against in-person visits? No. The 3 video visits per month are completely separate from the 3 in-person visits per month. Using video visits does not reduce how many times you can visit in person.

What You Cannot Do

• You cannot call the facility and be transferred to an inmate.
• Three-way calls are not permitted.
• Calls discussing illegal activity are subject to investigation.

Call Monitoring and Privacy

All regular inmate calls at EKCC are monitored and recorded. Do not discuss sensitive legal matters on a regular call. Attorney-client calls may be handled differently; coordinate with legal counsel and the facility if needed.
