Four Ways to Send Money
The High Point Detention Center gives you four ways to put money on someone’s account. Each has different hours, requirements, and payment options.
Option 1: Online at InmateCanteen
Go to team3.inmatecanteen.com and create a free account. Search for the High Point Detention Center (Guilford County), enter the person’s inmate ID number and full name, choose an amount, and pay with a debit or credit card. Funds post immediately. A service fee applies and appears before you confirm the transaction.
This is the fastest method for anyone who does not want to travel to the facility or mail a check.
Option 2: Lobby Kiosk
The IC Team3 lobby kiosk is at 507 E. Green Drive, High Point. Kiosk hours are:
| Day | Hours |
|---|
| Monday | 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. |
| Tuesday | 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. |
| Wednesday | 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. |
| Thursday | 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. |
| Friday | 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. |
| Saturday | Closed |
| Sunday | Closed |
Accepted payment at the kiosk:
- Cash
- Debit cards
- Visa or Mastercard linked to an open bank account
Not accepted: Prepaid cards, gift cards, or credit cards not linked to a bank account.
Cash deposit limit: $300 per rolling 7-day period. This applies to cash transactions at the kiosk only.
You need the person’s inmate ID number to complete a kiosk transaction. Funds credit immediately.
Option 3: Reception Desk
You can pay by cash, credit card, or debit card at the facility reception desk. Reception desk deposit hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The desk is closed on holidays.
This option is useful if you are already at the facility and want to deposit in person during business hours.
Option 4: Mail a Check or Money Order
Send a certified check, cashier’s check, or money order payable to the person’s name and inmate ID to:
Guilford County Jail - High Point
[Inmate Full Name], [Inmate ID Number]
507 E. Green Drive
High Point, NC 27260
Mail rules for deposits:
- Certified checks, cashier’s checks, or money orders only
- No personal checks
- No cash in the mail
- Write the person’s full name and inmate ID on the memo line
- Processing takes longer than online or kiosk deposits depending on mail delivery and facility processing
What You Always Need
The inmate ID number. Every deposit method requires it. Do not try to deposit without it. A deposit with the wrong ID can be delayed, misapplied, or returned.
Find the inmate ID using the Police to Citizen inmate search at guilfordcountysheriff.policetocitizen.com/Inmates/Catalog.
What the Money Covers
Money deposited through InmateCanteen goes to the person’s account and can be used for:
- Commissary: Food, hygiene items, clothing, and other authorized purchases from the facility store
- Phone time: Calls through Pay Tel Communications. See the phone calls guide for how Pay Tel works
- Tablet messaging: Secure messages sent and received through the tablet system
Funds deposited at either Guilford County facility apply to the inmate’s account regardless of location. If the person transfers between High Point and Greensboro, the account balance goes with them.
Fees
A service fee applies to online and kiosk deposits. The exact fee depends on the deposit amount and payment method. InmateCanteen shows the fee before you confirm the transaction, so you see the total cost upfront before paying.
Mailed certified checks or money orders may have lower or no processing fees, but they take longer to apply.
When Funds Credit
- Online and kiosk deposits: Credit immediately after confirmation
- Reception desk deposits: Credit immediately
- Mailed deposits: Take longer based on mail delivery time and facility processing
Troubleshooting a Deposit That Didn’t Go Through
If a deposit does not appear on the account:
- Check that you entered the correct inmate ID number
- Confirm the person is still in custody (not transferred or released)
- Review the InmateCanteen transaction history in your account
- Contact InmateCanteen support at team3.inmatecanteen.com
- Call the facility at (336) 641-7900 if the deposit is still missing after 24 hours
Account Limits and Holds
The facility may place a hold on an account for disciplinary reasons or court-ordered restitution. If a person cannot access deposited funds, they should speak with housing staff. You can also call (336) 641-7900 for guidance on holds.
What Happens to Funds on Transfer or Release
If the person transfers to another county or state system, contact InmateCanteen to ask about fund transfer procedures. Funds may not automatically follow to a different system. When released, remaining funds are typically disbursed to the person per the facility’s release policy. Ask InmateCanteen support or call (336) 641-7900 for details specific to your situation.
