How Calling Works

Calls at Piedmont CI are outbound only. The person inside places the call from a facility phone. You cannot call into the institution. When they dial your number, the ConnectNetwork system checks whether your number is set up and funded. If it is, the call connects. If not, it gets rejected.

You need to set up an AdvancePay account linked to your phone number before the first call arrives. There is no way to answer an unexpected call without a funded account.

How to Set Up an AdvancePay Account

  1. Go to connectnetwork.com or call 800-483-8314.
  2. Create a free account using your email address.
  3. Add your phone number to the account.
  4. Add funds using a debit or credit card.
  5. Your number is now active. When the person at Piedmont CI calls, the call will connect.

There is no minimum balance requirement to set up an account, but the account must have funds for calls to go through. $10 to $20 is a reasonable starting balance.

Contact the person inside to have your number added to their approved call list. This is done through the facility, not through ConnectNetwork.

Call Recording and Monitoring

All calls at Piedmont CI are recorded and may be monitored by facility staff. Do not discuss anything on a call that you would not want reviewed. Attorney-client calls are the exception, but only when properly designated as legal calls through the facility’s procedures.
