Why You Cannot Call In

You cannot dial (336) 625-2578 and be connected to the person you are trying to reach. That number reaches facility staff, not individual residents. The phone system at Randolph CC is outbound only: the person uses a facility phone to call you through the ViaPath/GTL system. Your job is to make sure your number is set up and there is money to pay for the call.

Step 1: Create a ConnectNetwork Account

Go to ConnectNetwork.com and create a free account. Use your real name and the phone number you want them to call. If you want them to be able to reach more than one number (your cell and your home phone, for example), you can add multiple numbers to your account.

Step 2: Fund the Account

Each call costs $0.10 per minute. You can pay for calls in two ways:

Prepay your ConnectNetwork account: Add a balance to your ConnectNetwork account directly. When the person calls, the cost comes from your prepaid balance. Go to ConnectNetwork.com, log in, and add funds with a debit or credit card.

Person pays from their trust account: The person can pay for calls from their trust account at Randolph CC. This means you may not need to keep a separate ConnectNetwork balance, but the trust account must have money in it. See the send money guide for how to deposit.

Step 3: Be Ready for the Call

Once your number is set up and there is money available, the person can call you during phone access hours at Randolph CC. Each call is capped at 15 minutes. If you want to keep talking, they need to hang up and call again as a new call.

Answer the call. You will hear a recorded prompt identifying the call as coming from Randolph Correctional Center. You must accept the call to connect. If you miss it, the person has to wait until they have access to the phones again.

Call Rates

Rate$0.10 per minute
Maximum call length15 minutes
Maximum per 15-minute call$1.50

Rates are set by ViaPath/GTL in accordance with state and federal regulations. No additional surcharges are typical for in-state calls.

Monitoring and Recording

All calls at Randolph Correctional Center are monitored and recorded as a matter of NC DAC policy. This is standard at all NC state prisons. Do not discuss anything sensitive on a call.

Attorney-client calls may be handled differently. If the person needs to speak with legal counsel, the attorney should contact the facility directly at (336) 625-2578 to arrange a legal call.

Video Visits

ViaPath/GTL also offers video visits through the GettingOut app. Video visits can be a good option when you cannot travel to Asheboro. Here is how to set it up:

  1. Download the GettingOut app or go to sso.gtlconnect.com
  2. Create a free account with your real name and contact information
  3. Search for Randolph Correctional Center and add the person
  4. Schedule a video session from the app

Video visits are also monitored. Check the app for current scheduling availability and any fees.

Troubleshooting

Call is not connecting: Check that your phone number is saved correctly in your ConnectNetwork account and that there is money available. Some mobile carriers block calls from correctional facilities. If that happens, contact your carrier and ask them to unblock calls from ConnectNetwork numbers. You can also contact ConnectNetwork support at 877-650-4249.

Call drops mid-conversation: Calls drop if the balance runs out during the call. Keep enough on the account for the full 15-minute window.

Person says they cannot find your number: Make sure your number is verified in the ConnectNetwork system. Log in at ConnectNetwork.com to confirm.

Questions about phone access hours: Call Randolph Correctional Center at (336) 625-2578. The facility sets phone access schedules, and those are not published online.
