Oneida publishes everyone in custody as a browsable table that refreshes about every six hours, which is why someone booked this morning may not be on it yet. Start with the search below.

Overview
Oneida County publishes a live list of everyone currently held at its Correctional Facility. It is worth knowing up front that it is a list rather than a search engine, so how you use it is different from what most county tools expect.
Quick Facts
1 The list lives on the Sheriff's Office site at sheriff.oneidacountyny.gov
2 It shows everyone in custody at the moment the data was pulled
3 There is no search box and no filter field
4 Columns are name, sex, race, age, booking date, charges and charge details
5 A plus sign next to each row expands it
6 The county states it refreshes approximately every six hours
7 No booking photos appear anywhere on it
8 The Jail Records Office answers on 315-768-7804
It Is a List, Not a Search
Most county tools give you a box to type a name into. Oneida does not. What it publishes is the full in-custody roster as a table, and you find your person by looking down it.
In practice that changes two things:
Use your browser’s find function. Ctrl and F on Windows, Command and F on a Mac, then type the surname. That is the search box this page does not have.
A misspelling is less fatal here. With a typed search a wrong letter returns nothing. With a list you can scan nearby names and spot a spelling you did not expect.

The Six Hour Lag Is the Whole Story
The county states this itself: the list shows people who were in the jail at the time the data was updated, approximately every six hours.
That single sentence explains most of the frustration families have with it.
Someone arrested at 9 in the morning may not appear until the afternoon refresh.
Someone released this morning may still be showing until the next one.
What you are looking at is a snapshot, not a live feed.
So an absence is not an answer. If the name is not there and you expected it to be, the phone is faster than waiting for the next refresh.
Who to Call, and About What
The Sheriff’s Office publishes direct lines rather than a single switchboard, which saves time if you use the right one:

Make Sure You Have the Right Oneida County
There are three Oneida Counties in the United States, and the other two come up in searches constantly.
Oneida County, New York is this one. The Sheriff’s Office is at sheriff.oneidacountyny.gov.
Oneida County, Wisconsin runs a jail at oneidasheriff.org that houses people from the Wisconsin state system.
Oneida County, Idaho has no jail at all. It sends people to Caribou County.
If the site you are on does not say New York, you are in the wrong state.
One More Place to Look
The county’s own site is the authority on who it is holding, but New York also runs a statewide notification service through VINE, which covers custody status and release alerts. It is a second route rather than a replacement, and the county’s list stays the better answer to the plain question of whether somebody is there right now.
If Somebody Was Picked Up Tonight
Booking has to complete before a record exists anywhere, and it takes hours. Add the six hour refresh on top of that and a search run late at night can easily come back empty for someone who is definitely in the building.
Two things help:
Try a fragment of the surname rather than the full name, in case it was entered differently.
Call Jail Records on 315-768-7804 rather than refreshing the page.

6 of 6 questions
Q
Can I search the Oneida County jail roster by name?
You can find someone by name, though not by typing into a search box, because the county does not provide one. It publishes the whole in-custody list as a table and you look down it. Your browser's find function, Ctrl and F or Command and F, does the job the missing search box would have done.
Inmate Search
Q
How often does the Oneida County inmate list update?
Approximately every six hours, by the county's own statement. That is the single most useful thing to know about it. Someone booked this morning may not appear until the afternoon, and someone released this morning may still be listed until the next refresh.
Inmate Search
Q
What does the plus sign do?
It expands that person's row to show the additional charge detail the county holds. The table itself gives name, sex, race, age, booking date and charges, and the plus sign opens the rest rather than taking you to a separate page.

Q
The name is definitely right but nothing is there. What now?
Booking may not have finished, which takes hours, and the six hour refresh sits on top of that. Try a fragment of the surname in case it was entered with a middle name attached or a hyphen dropped. Then call Jail Records on 315-768-7804, which can answer before the list catches up.

Q
I found an Oneida County jail in Wisconsin. Is that the same place?
No. There are three Oneida Counties and they all appear in search results together. New York is this one, at sheriff.oneidacountyny.gov. Wisconsin runs a separate jail at oneidasheriff.org. Idaho has no jail at all and sends people to Caribou County. Check the state before you act on anything.

Q
Is there another way to check custody status?
New York runs VINE, a statewide notification service covering custody status and release alerts, which works as a second route. For the plain question of whether somebody is in the Oneida County jail right now, the county's own list is still the better answer, with the six hour lag in mind.
