Visitation at Clermont County Jail

There is no open visitation at Clermont County Jail. Visit days are set by housing unit. The inmate must schedule the visit with jail staff and contact you to confirm the day and time.

Overview

Clermont County Jail does not have open visitation hours. Instead, each housing unit has its own designated visit days. It is the inmate’s responsibility to schedule the visit with jail staff and then contact you, by phone or letter, to tell you when to come. Jail staff will not share an inmate’s visitation schedule with you. If you haven’t received word from the inmate yet, write them a letter or deposit money on the account so they have phone access to call you.

How the Visit Schedule Works

Clermont County Jail does not post a public visitation schedule. Visit days are assigned by housing unit, and different units have different days. Two people housed in the same jail may have completely different visit schedules.

The process works like this:

  1. The inmate talks to jail staff to schedule a visit for you.
  2. The inmate contacts you by phone or letter to tell you the approved day and time.
  3. You show up at the scheduled time with your ID and following dress code requirements.

Jail staff cannot tell you the schedule. If you call the jail and ask when you can visit, they will direct you back to the inmate. This is a firm policy at Clermont County Jail.

What to Do If You Haven’t Heard Anything

If you don’t know the inmate’s visit day yet, your options are:

  • Send a letter to 4700 East Filager Road, Batavia, OH 45103 asking the inmate to contact you with their visit schedule. Every letter must have a return address.
  • Deposit money on the account using Access Corrections so the inmate has funds for phone calls. See the Send Money guide.
  • Wait for a call. Inmates get two free local calls at booking. After that, they need commissary funds for phone access.

ID Requirements

Every adult visitor must bring a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. Accepted forms include:

  • Driver’s license or state ID
  • U.S. passport or passport card
  • Military ID

Expired IDs will not be accepted. If you don’t have valid ID, you will be turned away.

Dress Code

The jail enforces a dress code and will turn visitors away who aren’t dressed appropriately. While the jail does not publish a specific item-by-item list, standard county jail policies prohibit:

  • Revealing, see-through, or low-cut clothing
  • Clothing that exposes undergarments or the midriff
  • Shorts or skirts with a hem above mid-knee
  • Gang-related symbols or markings
  • Offensive slogans or imagery

Dress conservatively. If your clothing is flagged and you’re turned away, the visit is forfeited for that time slot.

Minors

Minors may only visit with a parent or legal guardian who is also an approved visitor. The adult must be present for the entire visit. If the child is not related to the inmate or the accompanying adult isn’t the child’s legal guardian, contact the jail at (513) 732-7500 before attempting a visit to ask about the approval process.

What You Can Bring

Do not bring bags, purses, or outside items into the visiting area. Leave valuables in your car. If you’re coming from out of town, plan to leave bags locked in your vehicle before entering the building.

Security Screening

All visitors pass through a security screening process before entering the visiting area. This may include a metal detector and pat-down search. Follow all staff instructions during screening.
