Always include the inmate's full legal name and register number: mail without it is returned to sender.
Overview
Mail to FCI Seagoville goes to a P.O. Box, not the physical facility address. Every piece of mail must include the inmate’s full legal name and register number on the envelope and, for photos, inside the envelope too. All mail is inspected by staff before delivery. Standard print photos are allowed; Polaroids, glitter, stickers, and embedded objects are not.
Always include the register number on the outside of the envelope.
Photos must be standard print size (4x6 max): no Polaroids, no glitter, no stickers.
All incoming mail is inspected and may be read by BOP staff.
Include your return address on every envelope: mail without a return address is rejected.
Books and magazines must come directly from the publisher or an approved vendor (Amazon, Barnes & Noble).
How to Address Mail
Use the P.O. Box address, not the physical highway address. Mail sent to the street address may be delayed or returned.
Correct format:
[Inmate Full Legal Name][Register Number]FCI SeagovilleP.O. Box 9000Seagoville, TX 75159
Your return address is required in the upper-left corner. Mail without a return address is rejected outright. Mail arriving without the register number is often returned or delayed while staff tries to match it: don’t skip it.
Letters
Standard letters on plain white or lined paper are accepted. You can use a greeting card as long as it has no embedded objects (glitter, foil embellishments, pop-ups, perfume). Envelopes must be plain white or manila: no padded envelopes for general correspondence.
All incoming correspondence is subject to review by BOP mail room staff.
Sending Photos
Photos are a meaningful way to stay connected. Follow these rules to make sure they get through:
Standard print photos up to 4x6 inches are accepted
Photos must be printed on photo paper (printed at a store or through a photo service)
No Polaroid photos: the thick backing is not permitted
No photos with glitter, stickers, adhesive, or alterations
No sexually explicit photos
Pigeonly’s photo printing service prints and mails photos directly to federal inmates: see pigeon.ly for details
Books and Magazines
Books and magazines must come directly from the publisher or an approved commercial vendor. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or similar. You cannot mail a used book directly from your home. The package must show it came from the vendor, not a personal address.
Acceptable options: order from Amazon and ship directly to the P.O. Box address using the inmate’s name and register number in the “ship to” field.
