Q
What address do I use to write to someone at Marcy?
P.O. Box 3600, Marcy, NY 13403, with their full name and DIN on the envelope and your return address in the top left corner. The P.O. Box 5000 printed on the facility's address line is the prison's own box, not the one that reaches a person in custody.

Q
Why are there two box numbers for Marcy?
Because NYSDOCCS publishes a business address and a separate incarcerated mail box for its prisons, and prints them on one line as P.O. Box 5000 with Box 3600 in brackets. Anything copied from that line without reading the bracket inherits the wrong box.

Q
Can I visit any weekend?
No. Marcy alternates weekends between DINs ending 0 to 4 and DINs ending 5 to 9, and a whole weekend goes to one group. If your weekend is the other group's, the next one available to you is a fortnight later. Weekday holidays are open to all.

Is Marcy the same as Mid-State Correctional Facility?
No, though they are neighbours. Marcy is 9000 Old River Road on 315-768-1400 and takes P.O. Box 3600 for family mail. Mid-State is 9005 Old River Road on 315-768-8581 and takes P.O. Box 2500. Marcy rations weekends by DIN and Mid-State does not.

Q
Is there a free bus from New York City?
Not to Marcy. A statewide programme run with the state provides free visitor buses to 18 prisons, and neither Marcy nor Mid-State is on that list. Marcy is about four and a half hours from the city by car, and about fifteen minutes from Utica.

Q
How much do phone calls cost?
Nothing. New York made every call from a state prison free to families on August 1, 2025. Three calls of up to fifteen minutes are credited each Saturday, calls after those run to thirty minutes, and the window is 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM across fifteen approved numbers.
