If the BOP locator shows 'FCI SEAGOVILLE CAMP,' they're at the minimum-security unit: different visiting days, same address.
Overview
The FCI Seagoville Satellite Camp is a minimum-security federal prison camp attached to the main FCI compound. It holds approximately 94 male inmates and uses the same mailing address and phone number as the main FCI. Visiting days are different: Camp inmates can only have visitors on Saturday, Sunday, and Federal Holidays. Phone calls, mail, money, and CorrLinks email work the same way as the main compound.

What Is a Federal Prison Camp?
A Federal Prison Camp (also called a satellite camp or FPC) is the lowest security level in the BOP system. Camps typically have dormitory-style housing with minimal perimeter security. Inmates are generally non-violent, have shorter remaining sentences, and have demonstrated good behavior: often transferred from a higher-security facility after earning it.
FCI Seagoville’s Satellite Camp is on the same property as the main low-security FCI but operates as a separate unit with its own housing and programming.
Camp vs. Main FCI
If the BOP locator returns “FCI SEAGOVILLE CAMP” instead of “FCI SEAGOVILLE,” your loved one is at the camp unit: not the main compound. The key difference that matters for families is visiting days:

How Inmates Get Designated to the Camp
The BOP assigns inmates to the Satellite Camp based on a combination of factors: security scoring, sentence length remaining, offense type, and disciplinary history. Typically, camp inmates have fewer than 10 years remaining and a minimum-security score. Inmates at the main FCI can request a transfer to the camp if they meet the criteria, but designation decisions are made by the BOP: not the inmate.
A move from the main FCI to the camp is generally a positive development and can indicate the person is closer to release.
Visiting the Camp
Visiting the camp follows the same general process as the main FCI: you must be on the inmate’s pre-approved visitor list before arriving. The inmate submits a visitor request form (BP-629) to their unit team. Approval typically takes 1–4 weeks.
On visiting day, arrive early and bring valid government-issued photo ID. Camp visits are on Saturday, Sunday, and Federal Holidays only, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Always call (972) 287-2911 on the morning of your visit to confirm no lockdown.
Phone, Mail, and Money. Same as the Main FCI
Everything else works the same way for camp inmates:
Phone calls: TRULINCS, 300 minutes per month, 15-minute limit per call, outbound only
Mail: P.O. Box 9000, Seagoville TX 75159: include full legal name and register number
Money: MoneyGram Code 7932, Western Union FBOP DC, or money order to Des Moines
CorrLinks email: The inmate adds you from the TRULINCS kiosk: same process as the main FCI

Q
Is the mailing address different for the Satellite Camp?
No: use the same address: [Inmate Full Legal Name, Register Number], FCI Seagoville, P.O. Box 9000, Seagoville, TX 75159. The register number routes the mail correctly regardless of whether they're at the main FCI or the camp.

Q
Can a camp inmate transfer back to the main FCI?
Yes. Disciplinary actions or a change in security scoring can result in a transfer back to the main FCI or even to a higher-security facility. Changes in designation are made by the BOP unit team and are not something the inmate or family can appeal directly.
