When Will They Show Up on the Mesquite Roster?

Booking timeline, when to check the roster, and when to call instead.

Overview

A recent arrest doesn’t mean the name will appear on the roster immediately. The City of Mesquite’s booking process — photographing, fingerprinting, documenting charges, inventorying property — takes time. Knowing the timeline keeps you from refreshing a page that hasn’t caught up yet.

Quick Facts

  • Booking time varies — the City of Mesquite says it 'could take minutes or hours.'
  • During booking, the person is in custody but not yet on the public roster.
  • Check the roster at apps.cityofmesquite.com/police_web/jail/index.php after waiting at least one hour.
  • If still not showing after two hours, call (972) 216-6243 to confirm custody status.
  • Felony charges may result in transfer to Dallas County Jail within 24–48 hours.

What Happens During Booking

According to the City of Mesquite’s official FAQ, booking is “an administrative process documenting a prisoner’s entrance into the jail.” The process includes:

  • Collecting personal information (name, address, charges)
  • Inventorying personal property
  • Taking a photograph
  • Taking fingerprints

The time this takes depends on the complexity of the arrest. A simple Class C warrant can process quickly. Multiple charges, holds from other agencies, or a busy intake period can extend that time significantly.

When to Check the Roster

The roster at apps.cityofmesquite.com/police_web/jail/index.php updates as people are entered into the system. Wait at least one hour after a confirmed arrest before searching. Searching immediately after an arrest typically returns nothing, not because they’re not in custody, but because booking isn’t done.

After one hour, refresh the page and search by last name. If the name appears, you’ll see charges and bond amount. If it doesn’t, wait another hour and try again.

When to Call Instead of Wait

If the name hasn’t appeared after two hours and you’ve confirmed an arrest took place, call the jail directly:

  • Jail line: (972) 216-6243
  • Front desk: (972) 216-6261

Staff can confirm custody status by name. The jail is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

After the Roster Shows Them — What’s Next

Once the name appears, the roster shows charges and bond amount. From there:

  • Class C only: Pay at Mesquite Municipal Court during business hours. See the [Class C fine guide](/facility-guides/tx/mesquite-police-jail-tx/class-c-fine/)
  • Felony or Class A/B: Bond goes through Dallas County Sheriff. See the [bail and bond guide](/facility-guides/tx/mesquite-police-jail-tx/bail-and-bond/)
  • Bond amount is $0.00: Arraignment hasn’t happened yet. Wait until 8–10 AM when the daily arraignment window runs

Q

The roster says my family member isn't there — could they still be in custody?

Yes. If the arrest was recent, they may still be in the booking process. Wait at least two hours, then call (972) 216-6243 to confirm. Don't assume they weren't arrested just because the roster doesn't show them yet.

Q

What if they were arrested by Mesquite PD but the charge is a county warrant?

They'll still go through Mesquite's booking process first, then transfer to Dallas County Jail if the charge requires it. Check the Mesquite roster first, then dallascounty.org/jaillookup/ if they're no longer showing in Mesquite.
