Visiting Davidson Correctional Center requires advance approval. The person inside mails you a blank visitor application. You fill it out and return it to the facility. Once approved, your name goes on the visitor list. Visits are limited to 3 visitors per session, one session per week, up to 2 hours. Davidson is a reentry facility. Many residents work in the community during weekdays through work release or community assignments, so they may not be on facility grounds during business hours. Davidson is a minimum custody reentry prison. Many residents hold work release jobs with employers in Lexington and the surrounding area, or participate in DOT road crews, community work squads for the towns of Mocksville and Davie County, and other off-site assignments during weekday business hours.

Step 1: The resident requests a blank form. The person inside asks the facility for a blank visitor application and mails it to you.
Step 2: You complete the application. Fill out the form with your information. Be accurate. Any discrepancies during your background check can delay or deny approval.
Step 3: Return the completed form. Send the completed application back to the facility. The visitation team reviews it and runs a background check.
Step 4: Approval notification. Once approved, your name is added to the visitor list. The resident may be notified first. Confirm your approval status before traveling.
Step 5: Schedule your visit. Contact the facility to schedule. Do not show up without a confirmed appointment.
Up to 18 people can be on an approved visitor list at one time. The enrollment list is reviewed every 6 months. If someone needs to be added or removed, the resident initiates that change.
Each session allows a maximum of 3 visitors at one time. You are limited to one session per week. Sessions run up to 2 hours. Coordinate in advance if multiple family members want to visit on the same day, since only 3 can enter together.

Social Security cards, insurance cards, credit cards, and self-generated or printed IDs are not accepted.
NC DAC has a specific dress code for visitors. Staff may deny entry or end a visit if your clothing does not meet the policy. Do not wear:

All visitors go through security before entering the facility. Expect:
Do not bring cell phones, smartwatches, cameras, or AI glasses into the facility. These will not be allowed past the entrance. Leave personal items in your vehicle.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an approved adult visitor and must bring a birth certificate. The approved adult is responsible for the child’s conduct during the entire visit.

If you cannot visit in person, video visits are available through the Getting Out Visits app, operated by ViaPath/GTL. Download the app or visit sso.gtlconnect.com to create an account. Video visits let you see and speak with the resident from your phone, tablet, or computer.
Video visits are a good option when the resident is in the facility and available but you cannot travel. They do not replace in-person visits, and scheduling rules still apply.
Bringing any of the following into Davidson Correctional Center is against NC DAC policy and may result in criminal charges:
